Power Steering Flush and Proper Fluid Tips
Ok, flush the system with software autodiag for ABS, ESP systems.
I bought two of those tester pens from Amazon, two different brands. Then I took a new bottle of brake fluid, mixed half of it in a glass of water. I tested the mixed brake fluid and water and well as the pure brake fluid in the newly opened bottle. One of the tester pens reported both solutions as bad, the other reported both solutions as good. I returned both of them and bought some copper test strips instead.
The aftermarket ones don't wanna sit flush like the original ones. The gm ones go all the way in
my mechanic needs to be retrained as he installed incorrectly 😢
Great vid, thanks!
Thanks! We're glad you found it helpful.
Well ive got four shims between my starter and the block it still gets hung up wtf is goin on
Couple of questions if you don’t mind 😊 How does the ecu “know” when to stop applying power to the motor when the pads make contact with the disc, what stops it continuously pushing. Is it a timed function or does it measure current ? After retracting the piston with the motor then installing new pads, will applying the EPB run the motor until it’s back to its usual on/off state ?
I did this now.Tell me how to get my parking light maintenance from flasher
Why can’t Honda Accords have this feature, I’m literally stuck with the Right rear side Electronic parking brake piston stuck and getting a message on the dashboard “Parking Brake Hold problem See your dealer” Any suggestions on if this is a electrical issue or the piston motor going bad?
Not sure what "feature" you are referring to. Please call our tech support line to discuss for free: 800-280-2737
@@bbbindustries The feature where you can put your brakes in service mode from the infotainment screen as well as retracting the piston.
@@SinghisKing29did you ever figure out this issue? I’m dealing with the same thing
@@luisavelar9883 No, the motor is on a national back order so I can’t replace it.
You can also undo the two Allen keys on the motor and separate it and wind the piston back ,or just put in service mode
How do you shut off the abs light
Use a scan tool or take it to a qualified shop for assistance.
Volvo and others recommend a 9V battery on the EPB. Does that push the piston all the way back or do I still need to manually push it back after it has retracted?
Most applications require that your caliper piston(s) be manually retracted to facilitate a new set of brake pads.
Thank you so much! I tried my first pair of brakes with electric parking brake and I struggled with compressing the piston at first. Wasted a few hours and once I saw this video I flew through the repair.
That's great news! We're glad the video helped you out. Thanks for letting us know.
This stumbled on my feed; however, could've saved some time by advising to reference the manual that comes with the starter at the beginning of the video and then end the video
Thanks for the video, a question my matrix 2009 starter stay engaged one second after the engine run , what could be the problem thanks to answer me back

Thanks Mr
Great video. I remember seen this guys in the advance auto parts training videos
Thanks!
dude made a vid to tell me to look at the instructions
Do you use a 12v to bring that piston in and out on the bench test
Why would you want to? The replacement caliper has undergone multiple tests at the factory prior to shipping. We DO NOT recommend applying power to an EPB caliper without putting the vehicle in service mode.
just drip some oil in there and spin the turbine if you don't have this kit. you'll see it go down
Mine was the alternator cable was connected on the wrong side of the starter relay I guess the last mechanic connected on the wrong side give me the power to my starter wire and staying engage after I started it
I have 2018 chevy equinox with 80k KM on it last week i was driving 120mph and pressed the brakes hard the brakes weren't responding as a wanted, so I went to replace the brake fluid with Ravenol DOT 4 the cap has dot 3 written on it but Ravenol DOT 4 have 271c dry and 169c wet boiling point and man even the brake pedal feeling changed. we have also 2012 Sonata Hybrid with 140km on it that we didn't do a brake flush on the ABS died and it won't drive unless you replace the ABS and it costed 1800 us dollars to replace by the way the fluid was black.... I highly recommend spending 50$ as i did to replace and flush all the fluid from the system now the car stops faster, and brake pedal is much better now and the ABS will live longer..

Disconnect the battery, then go through the settings. Okay.
Ok...here's the second video of "how to shim a starter" with a naked flywheel (no bell housing!). What if I just bought an old Chevy that runs & drives but the starter isn't shimmed right?
Never saw a duck with that on its head
I am not sure how true this is, in my 40+ years of driving I have never ever had any issues with any of my vehicles braking systems when it came to brake fluid or anyone I have ever known and know has never had issues not having brake fluid flushing , usually by the time the brake fluid is getting very dark the lines are going and need to be replaced which also means the system will have to be bled , sure if you are driving say something like a big rig, hauling heavy weight and trailers using your brakes allot or have a race car doing average speeds of 100MPH and having to stop yes but the average person I am "doubting" that it needs to be done. yes check your fluids and brakes if you go to a place that gives you a huge list take the quote then go to a different place don't say anything and see what they say This next part is more of a rant then anything I think that it's a scare tactic that shops use, I took my 06 Lexus is 350 for an oil change, only asked for an oil change I went for a walk came back, the guy starts telling me my front brakes are really bad and that the backs needed to be replaced , I know the fronts are down to around 28% the rears were done two years ago and i had just checked them about a month ago , the person gives me a huge quote ( over 2000cad) (again I never asked for any of this) they also mentioned brake fluid flush ( another 50CAD) I asked him why he tells me it should be done pretty much every brake job, it's a shame because I used to always go to this same place they were excellent but the owner sold the place , the new owner who to me is thief . When the rear brakes were done they replaced the calipers and rotors, so the brake fluid was also done, I looked at my brake fluid which was clear. I used to do all my own work on my vehicles and well this car is to low and my back isnt the greatest so I need to take it in to get most things done and it's ridiculously expensive most places now two bit you to death

Buy the right stuff you won’t have to shim
That's what I'm wondering... I've changed tons of starter motors and one, never had an issue and two, the bellhousing is always in the way so how are you supposed test the gap to 'shim' the motor housing anyway? What am I missing, is this just for race motors or something? :-)
That answer my question Muchas Gracias 😊
Best explanation I’ve seen on UA-cam
Thanks for the feedback.
When it comes to brzke fluid i would make it compulsory to put sticker on the master cyclinder to say which dot. 3 4 5 to avoid confusion As to the type brake fluids used
Great suggestion.
No chance of putting them on the lines and then put them in I'm having a heck to push them through
Did you get it. It’s pissing me off
My stupid mechanic says no need to change the brake fluid, killer mechanic
Its an upsell, brake fluid has always been the same, it attracts water. Bla bla bla
What I thought using pre-assembly lube would be fine
i have a '85 F-150, when i go to crank theres just grinding and no cranking. Issue????
Please call our free tech support hotline for help with your issue: 800-280-2737.
How is the boiling point relevant to the brake fluid? Where would the extreme heat source come from in the real application?
Take that wedding ring and watch OFF when working under the hood of ANY car. Or, maybe not. Everyone has their own level of PERSONAL SAFETY. Good luck.
when replaceing the new caliper do you put the oil in first start the brake motor
No, you don’t put fluid in the caliper before replacement. Please watch this video for additional assistance: ua-cam.com/video/dZyLHOTyeKo/v-deo.html
thanks
Absolute garbage parts.
Problem fixed, I used a shim . I've replaced two different starters and this guy on a forum said that he added a shim and I've tried it myself and it does work.
Excellent! Thanks for letting us know.
I know the points you’re making are true. But that burner boiling test was not accurate at all lol
